Education for All: A Right, not a Privilege

In many disadvantaged communities, access to quality education remains a privilege rather than a right. The NGO Yanga Mbiwa works to reduce this gap by implementing inclusive and holistic educational initiatives that not only send children to school, but also provide them with a real learning opportunity.

We begin by building and equipping community schools (a concrete example is Yangambuo Middle School), particularly in rural or marginalized areas. These facilities are designed to be safe, inclusive (especially for girls and children with disabilities), and adapted to the local context.

We also address the root causes of school dropout and illiteracy by distributing school supplies and uniforms, and offering scholarships to the most vulnerable children. At the same time, our early learning and literacy programs target children as young as 3 to teach them the basics of language, numbers, and social behavior.

The NGO Yanga Mbiwa also invests in continuing teacher training, offering workshops on child-centered pedagogies, inclusive education, and classroom management. Academic support programs, mentoring, and mobile libraries complement our approach to ensure lasting success.

Finally, we involve parents and community leaders in school monitoring through awareness campaigns and school management committees to ensure local ownership and project sustainability.
